Wise Health Solutions, Ltd. is owned and operated by Dr. Robert L. Wise, chiropractic physician and Dr. Kristen M. Jacobs, family physician. The couple was married in 2001 and re-located from Dr. Wise’s hometown of Springfield, IL to Mt. Vernon in 2002 (Dr. Jacobs went to high school in Murphysboro, and her parents reside in Pomona, IL). The doctors always knew that they wanted to integrate their practices and are excited about the opportunity to bring a new approach to medicine to the community.
The doctors purchased the building located at 329 Broadway (on the corner of 4 th and Broadway) which was most recently Brenda and Gwen’s Salon and Day Spa. The building was completely renovated to the couples’ specs. The décor uses many natural materials and neutral colors. “We enjoy spending much deserved time with patients so we created a serene environment that is not like your typical physician’s office. We wanted patients to feel relaxed and not feel rushed.” Dr. Jacobs said.
Dr. Wise graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in 1997. He specializes in pain management without medication or surgery as well as work-place safety, stress management, injury prevention, postural correction and nutritional counseling. He is also certified in acupuncture and uses this to treat ailments such as addiction, headaches, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis, low-back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, and postoperative dental pain to name a few. He performs auriculotherapy for smoking cessation and weight loss. (Auriculotherapy is a procedure in which stimulation of the auricle of the external ear is utilized to alleviate health conditions in other parts of the body).
Dr. Jacobs graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine’s Family Medicine Residency program in 2002. She specializes in preventive medicine, women and children’s health, and anti-aging skin care. The business will not only have the traditional services just described, they are providing a unique holistic approach that integrates western medicine with alternative medicine to manage the full aspect of health and provide necessary maintenance to create beauty, reduce stress, and achieve balance and well-being. The doctors realize that there is much more to either of their practices alone and that ultimately, integrating their practice styles and looking at the patient as a whole to provide the best care possible is the key to better health. They will provide nutritional counseling, weight management, exercise recommendations, massage therapy, and yoga.
